BritBox released today the trailer for Season 3 of Blue Lights, the hit police drama set in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Check it out!
Hailed as “Belfast’s answer to The Wire” by the Los Angeles Times, the BAFTA-winning Blue Lights follows three police constables — Grace (Siân Brooke, Trying, Good Omens), Annie (Katherine Devlin, Vikings, The Dig), and Tommy (Nathan Braniff) — as they deal with the pressures of divided communities, criminal gangs, and trying to keep the peace in a high-pressure environment.
Following on from the events in the first two seasons, Season 3 sees Grace, Annie, and Tommy accustomed to life under the blue lights after two years into their jobs as response officers. But their work will take them into a sinister world hidden behind the veneer of middle-class life — the world of the accountants and lawyers who facilitate organized crime. The old political and criminal order has gone and a new global gang rules Belfast, bringing danger closer to home for our officers than ever before.
Blue Lights: Season 3 premieres in the US on Thursday, November 13, exclusively on BritBox. New episodes will drop weekly through the season finale on December 18.
Also reprising their roles for the new season are Martin McCann (Say Nothing) as Stevie, Joanne Crawford (Resistance) as Helen, Andi Osho (Payback) as Sandra, Frank Blake (Normal People) as Shane, Abigail McGibbon (The Lovers) as Tina, Dearbháile McKinney (Derry Girls) as Aisling, and Andrea Irvine (Red Rock) as Nicola. Joining them are Cathy Tyson (Boiling Point, Dune: Prophecy) as private club owner Dana Morgan, and Michael Smiley (Bad Sisters, Censor) as intelligence officer Paul “Colly” Collins.
Produced by Two Cities Television and co-produced by Gallagher Films for BBC iPlayer and BBC One, Blue Lights is co-created, written, and executive produced by Declan Lawn and Adam Patterson, co-created and produced by Stephen Wright of Two Cities Television, and co-created and co-produced by Louise Gallagher of Gallagher Films with support from Northern Ireland Screen. The producer for Season 3 is Amanda Black (World on Fire, Marcella, Blue Lights: Season 2).
The series was commissioned by Lindsay Salt, Director of BBC Drama, and Charlotte Moore, BBC Chief Content Officer. The executive producers are Stephen Wright (Two Cities Television), Louise Gallagher (Gallagher Films), Declan Lawn, and Adam Patterson, and the executive producer for the BBC is Nick Lambon.
