Acorn TV announced today that it has renewed Irish Blood — the most successful series in its history — for a second season.

Today’s news comes on the day of the Season 1 finale of Irish Blood, the new Acorn TV mystery drama series that broke records at the streamer. In addition to being Acorn TV’s #1 series of all time in viewership, it was also the top show for bringing in subscribers (based on figures for the first three weeks of U.S. viewership). The series also has a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes. So, of course they renewed it for another season.
Said series star and executive producer Alicia Silverstone:
“It means so much to continue this journey with a character I love. Thank you to everyone who’s watched and supported, and to the phenomenal Irish crew and actors who made working there such a joy, and to the entire team across this series. We’re so happy to have found a captive audience who enjoyed the ride from beginning to end.”
The first season of Irish Blood is a six-part murder mystery that follows attorney Fiona Fox (Silverstone, Clueless, Bugonia), whose path in life has been marked by her father, who seemingly abandoned her and her mother on Fiona’s tenth birthday. After years of channeling anger toward him, to the benefit of her litigious clients, a message from her father sends her to Ireland.
It is on the Emerald Isle that Fiona learns key truths about her father as well as a family that doesn’t know she exists. If that wasn’t enough already, she also discovers the story of abandonment that has shaped her entire life was a lie — a lie intended to protect her and her mother from her father’s shady business dealings. All of this fires up Fiona’s resolve to uncover the full truth about her father and to reconnect with the parent she only thought she knew.
Season 2, which will again be set and produced in Ireland, will also consist of six hour-long episodes. Production is slated to begin in early 2026.
In addition to Silverstone, Season 1 stars Jason O’Mara (Smother, The Man In The High Castle), Wendy Crewson (We Were Liars, Tracker), Dearbhla Molloy (Wild Mountain Thyme, Rendezvous), Simone Kirby (His Dark Materials, Kneecap), Ruth Codd (The Fall of the House of Usher, The Dry), and Leonardo Taiwo (Wheel of Time, Ant-Man & The Wasp).
Irish Blood is executive produced by Christina Jennings, Scott Garvie, Paul Donovan, Ailish McElmeel, Christina Ray, Aaron Martin, Silverstone, and Molly McGlynn, who also directs Season 1. The series is produced by Shaftesbury and Deadpan Pictures, in association with AMC Studios and Fís Éireann /Screen Ireland, with the support of incentives for the Irish Film Industry provided by the government of Ireland, the Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit, and Ontario Creates. AMC Studios holds worldwide distribution rights.
Stay tuned for updates. In the meantime, catch up on Season 1.
