The CW has set the US premiere date for Canadian cop drama Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent.
Based on the classic “Law & Order” series format created by Dick Wolf, and adapted from the New York City-set Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent did gangbusters when it launched in Canada in 2024 — becoming the #1 primetime premiere on Citytv and the #1 primetime drama debut that season.
The Canadian series stars Aden Young (Rectify, Reckoning, The Disappearance) as Detective Sergeant Henry Graff and Kathleen Munroe (City on Fire, FBI, Patriot) as Detective Sergeant Frankie Bateman. As members of the Specialized Criminal Investigations Unit, Graff and Bateman investigate high-profile homicides in Toronto, Canada’s largest metropolis. These cops’ unique investigative skills are showcased through psychological tactics, with a heavy focus on the motives and actions of the criminals. Their cases delve into the worlds of high finance, politics, real estate, media, and more.
Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent: Season 1 premieres in the US on Wednesday, September 24, at 8pm ET/PT, on The CW. Season 2 of the series is slated to air on the network in 2026.
Costars include K. C. Collins (The Cleaning Lady, Pretty Hard Cases), Karen Robinson (Pretty Hard Cases, Cross), Araya Mengesha (Tiny Pretty Things, Anne with an E), and Nicola Correia-Damude (SkyMed, Resident Alien).
Developed by Rene Balcer for Universal Television, the series is produced by Lark Productions and Cameron Pictures Inc. in association with Universal International Studios, a division of Universal Studio Group, and Citytv, a subsidiary of Rogers Sports & Media. Tassie Cameron serves as showrunner and executive producer. Also serving as executive producers on Season 1 are Erin Haskett, Amy Cameron, Alex Patrick, and David Valleau, along with co-executive producer Tex Antonucci.
