Suspect - The Shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes

Along the lines of Mr Bates and The Post Office, the new historical drama, Suspect: The Shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes, also involves a miscarriage of justice — one that results not in accusations of theft and fraud but in death.

Suspect: The Shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes focuses on the events surrounding the tragic 2005 killing of an innocent man, Brazilian electrician Jean Charles de Menezes, by London police after they mistake him for a terrorist.

Told from multiple perspectives of those involved, it examines how memory — both accurate and distorted — can be turned into “fact” and shape our understanding of “the truth.”

Suspect: The Shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes premieres Wednesday, April 30, in the US on Hulu and globally on Disney+, where available.

Written by Oscar® nominee Jeff Pope (Philomena, A Confession), it stars Edison Alcaide, Daniel Mays (The Long Shadow), Conleth Hill (Vienna Blood), Russell Tovey (Gavin & Stacey), Max Beesley (The Gentlemen), Emily Mortimer (The New Look), Laura Aikman (Archie), Alex Jennings (MobLand), and Rodrigo Ternevoy (Fair City), amongst others.
