Starz has set the premiere date for Outlander: Blood of My Blood, the highly-anticipated prequel series to the smash hit, Outlander.

This standalone prequel series centers on parallel love stories filled with loyalty, passion, and desire. One is between Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater, Pennyworth, Belgravia: The Next Chapter) and Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy, Condor’s Nest, Flowers and Honey); the other is between Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield, The Road Dance, We Hunt Together) and Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine, War Horse, Dalgliesh).
They are, respectively, the parents of Jamie Fraser and Claire Randall, the lead characters in Outlander, and the new series follows the two couples — Ellen and Brian in the early 18th-century Scottish Highlands, and Julia and Henry in WWI England — as they defy the forces that seek to tear them apart.
Whether you have or haven’t watched Outlander, the hugely-popular time-traveling drama based on Diana Gabaldon’s international best-selling “Outlander” novels, matters not. Those who haven’t stepped into the “Outlander” universe will thrill to the new stories, while fans of the original series will learn the origin stories of fan-favorite characters from the show’s early seasons and gain new perspectives that will change what we think we know.
Outlander: Blood of My Blood premieres in the US on Friday, August 8, at 8pm ET/PT, exclusively on Starz, the Starz app, and all Starz streaming and on-demand platforms. It debuts in Canada at 9pm ET/PT. New episodes will drop weekly on Fridays.
The series costars Tony Curran (Mayflies) as Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat, Séamus McLean Ross (Rebus) as Colum MacKenzie, Sam Retford (Coronation Street) as Dougal MacKenzie, Rory Alexander (Pistol) as Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser, and Conor MacNeill (Industry) as Ned Gowan.
A production of Sony Pictures Television, the prequel series is showrun and executive produced by Matthew B. Roberts, with Ronald D. Moore, Maril Davis, and Jim Kohlberg also serving as executive producers.
