Paramount+ announced today that the original comedy series, Can You Keep a Secret?, starring Dawn French and Mark Heap, is coming to the US.

Oh goody! A new Britcom for folks on this side of the pond! And one starring a couple of my favorite actors, to boot — as in BAFTA® Award winner Dawn French (The Vicar of Dibley, French & Saunders) and Mark Heap (Friday Night Dinner, Upstart Crow).
They, along with Craig Roberts (Submarine) and Mandip Gill (Doctor Who), star in Can You Keep a Secret?, in which French plays Debbie Fendon, a domineering granny who will stop at nothing to protect her family. Thing is, the person they most need protecting from is her.
When Debbie’s hermit-like husband, William (Heap), unexpectedly dies, she makes an outlandish decision that will put the family under more pressure than ever before. Because William isn’t actually dead; rather, he was “mistakenly declared” dead and has been living in the loft while he and Debbie wait for the life insurance to pay out.
Needless to say, this comes as a bit of a shock to their easily frazzled son, Harold (Roberts), whose wife, Neha (Gill), works for the local police. And just as they come to terms with the baffling behavior of these geriatric toddlers, Debbie reveals another secret she’s been keeping up her sleeve. And this one could bring the whole family down.
Sounds like a corker!
A co-production of Big Talk Studios, Mayhay Studios and CBS Studios, Can You Keep a Secret? recently wrapped filming. Kenton Allen, Simon Mayhew-Archer, Dawn French, and Toby Welch will serve as executive producers, with Simon Hynd (Ghosts) set to direct. Written and created by Simon Mayhew-Archer (This Country), the series will air on BBC iPlayer and BBC One in the UK and Paramount+ in the US. The series is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.
The premiere date(s) has/have not been set yet. Stay tuned for updates.
