BritBox has set the North America premiere date for its Original docuseries Travels With Agatha Christie & Sir David Suchet.
Sir David Suchet, a national treasure in the UK who is beloved the world over for his signature role as the brilliant and persnickety Belgian sleuth Hercule Poirot, is returning to our screens in a brand-new docuseries about Dame Agatha Christie: Travels With Agatha Christie & Sir David Suchet.
Having already appeared in several others that are directly or indirectly related to the Queen of Mystery, including Behind the Scenes: Agatha Christie’s Poirot, David Suchet on the Orient Express, and Being Poirot, this touching, insightful, and humorous new documentary sees Sir David travel around the world, following in Christie’s footsteps.
Before becoming the world’s best-selling author, Agatha Christie embarked upon a world tour in 1922 at the age of 31. Her ten-month itinerary of the-then British Empire took her across South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada, along with a holiday to Hawaii. Although perceptions of her character tend to be dominated by the persona she adopted in public life, that of a shy individual who disliked fame, it was actually a defensive wall that she had put up.
Now, more than 100 years on, recreating Dame Agatha’s surprising and fascinating journey is an opportunity for Sir David, and all fans of the author, to discover a lesser-known Agatha — the woman she really was — as well as to explore the history and complex legacy of the British Empire.
