Netflix has set the global premiere date for Mary, a coming-of-age biblical epic starring Anthony Hopkins and Noa Cohen.
After playing Roman emperor Vespasian in the action drama series Those About to Die, two-time Oscar® winner Sir Anthony Hopkins (The Father, The Silence of the Lambs) returns as another historical figure, King Herod, in the new film, Mary.
Told through the eyes of Mary (Noa Cohen, 8200, Infinity), the drama tells the story of one of history’s most profound figures and the remarkable journey that led to the birth of Jesus.
Following a miraculous conception, Mary is shunned and goes into hiding after King Herod orders a murderous hunt for her newborn, Jesus. Bound by faith and driven by courage, Mary and Joseph (Ido Tako, Sisters, Black Space) go on the run to save his life at all costs.
Directed by D.J. Caruso (Disturbia, I Am Number Four), Mary, a Netflix Film, premieres globally on Friday, December 6, exclusively on Netflix. (You can set a reminder for it now.)
