Prime Video announced today its order for Young Sherlock, a new origin story series to be directed and executive produced by Guy Ritchie.
With all the wit and charm of Guy Ritchie’s “Sherlock Holmes” features, Young Sherlock is an eight-episode origin story of the world’s most famous detective as he unravels a global conspiracy.
Guy Ritchie (The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, The Covenant, The Gentlemen) is set to direct and executive produce the series, and Hero Fiennes Tiffin (The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, The Woman King) will star as Young Sherlock. Matthew Parkhill (Deep State, Rogue) will serve as writer and showrunner on the series.
Inspired by the “Young Sherlock Holmes” young adult thriller novels by Andrew Lane, who will serve as an executive producer on the series, Young Sherlock will be an irreverent, action-packed origin story of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s beloved detective in an explosive re-imagining of this iconic character. At age 19, Sherlock Holmes is disgraced, raw, unfiltered, and unformed, when he finds himself caught up in a murder mystery at Oxford University that threatens his freedom. Diving into his first-ever case with a wild lack of discipline, Sherlock manages to unravel a globe-trotting conspiracy that will change his life forever.

The series is from Inspirational Entertainment and Motive Pictures. The executive producers are Simon Kelton (Eddie the Eagle), Ivan Atkinson (The Gentlemen), Simon Maxwell (The Woman in the Wall), Dhana Gilbert (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), Colin Wilson (The Mandalorian), Marc Resteghini, and co-executive producer Harriet Creelman.
Young Sherlock will premiere globally exclusively on Prime Video (date tba).
