Paramount+ released today the official trailer for Sexy Beast, the new crime drama prequel series to the 2000 film of the same name.
Oh my goodness. Judging by the trailer, Emun Elliott could steal the show in the upcoming Paramount+ Original series Sex Beast, the prequel to the 2000 crime drama feature film Sexy Beast that starred Ray Winstone and Ben Kingsley in the lead roles of retired criminal Gal Dove and sociopathic criminal recruiter Don Logan, respectively.
In Sexy Beast the series, a younger Gal Dove and Don Logan are played by James McArdle (Mare of Easttown, Angels in America) and Emun Elliott (Guilt, The Gold), respectively. The cast also includes Tamsin Greig (Episodes, Friday Night Dinner) as Cecilia, Stephen Moyer (Shots Fired, True Blood) as Teddy Bass (played in the film by Ian McShane), and Sarah Greene (Bad Sisters, Dublin Murders) as Deedee Harrison (Amanda Redman in the film).
The prequel series explores the origins of Gal (McArdle) and Don’s (Elliott) complicated relationship as the best friends and small-town thieves find themselves descending into the seductive madness of the London criminal world during the vibrant and volatile 1990s. The two fall in with Teddy Bass (Moyer), a treacherous, rising name in the gangster world, who seduces Gal and Don into his criminal web, while Gal’s budding relationship with captivating adult film star Deedee (Greene), whose ambitions to control her own destiny and love affair with Gal put her in danger, threatens everything in Gal and Don’s world. Also amongst them is Cecilia (Greig), Don’s pathologically controlling and formidable older sister.
Sexy Beast, a Paramount+ Original Series, premieres Thursday, January 25, 2024, exclusively on Paramount+ in the US and international territories where the streaming service is available.
