Tubi announced today that it will exclusively launch the brand-new British dramedy series Boarders in North America in a deal with All3Media International.
Created by BAFTA-nominated screenwriter Daniel Lawrence Taylor (Timewasters), Boarders is a high-energy, warm, and funny coming-of-age drama that follows the lives of five talented Black teenagers from inner-city London, who find themselves on scholarships to the elite St. Gilberts, one of Britain’s oldest and most prestigious boarding schools. The series will see these students navigate a new world, forming new friendships along the way while also going on journeys of self-discovery.
The series is led by a cast of young rising talent, including Josh Tedeku (Supacell, A Town Called Malice), Jodie Campbell (Bulletproof, No Return), and Myles Kamwendo (The School for Good and Evil), alongside Sekou Diaby and Aruna Jalloh, both making their screen debuts.
Daniel Lawrence Taylor will also appear on screen alongside Derek Riddell (Happy Valley, Gentleman Jack), Niky Wardley (Queen of Oz, The Catherine Tate Show), Harry Gilby (Tolkien), Tallulah Greive (Our Ladies, Cinderella), Rosie Graham (The School for Good and Evil, Sanditon), Georgina Sadler (The A List), and Assa Kanoute, making her screen debut.
Said Daniel Lawrence Taylor:
“I’m beyond excited that Tubi is bringing BOARDERS to North America. This is a quintessentially British coming of age school show with big universal themes of belonging, achievement, first crushes, forging friendships, and awkward sexual encounters that will hit home as hard for the North American audiences as much as it does for us Brits. It is jam packed with exciting new talent both in front of and behind the camera, and is filled with humour, pathos and straight up joy. I know the Tubi audience will love watching it as much as I loved creating it.”
Written by Daniel Lawrence Taylor, with Emma Dennis-Edwards (EastEnders), Yemi Oyefuwa (Fool Me Once), and Ryan Calais Cameron (Luther) writing episodes, Boarders is directed by Ethosheia Hylton (African Queens, Sanditon) and Sarmad Masud (You Don’t Know Me, Bulletproof).
The series is produced by Studio Lambert in association with All3Media International for the BBC. The executive producers are Daniel Lawrence Taylor; Madeleine Sinclair and Susan Hogg for Studio Lambert; and Nawfal Faizullah and Ayela Butt for the BBC.
Boarders will premiere on Tubi exclusively in North America and across Latin America in the first quarter of 2024.
Stay tuned for updates.
