In the hour-long holiday special Mary Berry’s Highland Christmas, multi-hyphenate Mary Berry (food writer, cook, baker, gardener, television presenter, and the woman behind the Mary Berry China Collections) heads to the Highlands on a winter break, cooking up some truly indulgent dishes that can be enjoyed anytime over the festive season — from a rich cheese fondue, to her classic Buche de Noel.

But this isn’t just any Christmas. It’s one that is extra special and deeply meaningful for Dame Mary, because she’s spending it in her mother’s homeland of Scotland. Amidst the abundance of rich cultural delights, Mary reflects on her heritage with fascinating anecdotes about her Scottish roots.

From her cozy winter retreat, Mary cooks up sumptuous seasonal dishes that won’t break the bank, and in true winter style, she also embarks on magical days out with friends — from reindeer herding, to Christmas carolers and a traditional ceilidh. In addition to all of the festive fun, the special is packed full of Mary’s hints and hacks for the busy Christmas period, such as how to wow guests with a minimum of fuss, how to make a feast go further, and her ingeniously simple kitchen tricks.

And she’s not going alone! Accompanying her on this enchanting adventure are special guests who will make this a Christmas to remember.

Said Mary Berry:

“Christmas in Scotland is the biggest treat, my mother and her family were Scottish so it is a special place for me. The festive holidays are all about sharing special times with friends and family and so what better way than cooking some of my favourite dishes with a traditional Scottish twist. Joined by special guests and surrounded by beautiful scenery, these are recipes which can be used all over the festive season…”

Mary Berry’s Highland Christmas premieres in the US on Monday, December 18, at 9 PM ET, on linear PBS (check your local listings), PBS.org, and the PBS app, as well as on the PBS Living Prime Video Channel.
