Acorn TV has set the US premiere date for Steeltown Murders, a true-crime drama about the first documented case of a serial killer in Wales.
Set in two distinct time periods, the dark and gritty the four-part Steeltown Murders explores a small Welsh community’s grief from, and a buried truth about, two horrific murders.
Port Talbot, Wales. 2002. On hearing that the Criminal Investigation Department is looking to reopen two cases from 1973 involving sexually-motivated murders, Detective Chief Inspector Paul Bethell jumps at the opportunity to lead the investigation. Back in 1973, a small Welsh community is devastated by grief from the tragic events, and Paul, as a Detective Constable, is adamant not to make the same mistakes that he and the force had made once before.
Steeltown Murders premieres in the US as a full-season binge on Monday, November 27, exclusively on Acorn TV.
Playing the younger and older Paul Bethell are Scott Arthur (Good Omens, Borg vs. McEnroe) and Philip Glenister (Life on Mars, Ashes to Ashes), respectively. Sion Alun Davies (Hidden, The Sandman) and Steffan Rhodri (House of the Dragon, Wonder Woman) portray the younger and older Phil “Bach” Rees.
Costars include Aneurin Barnard (Dunkirk, The Goldfinch), Richard Harrington (Poldark, Hinterland), Keith Allen (Kingsman: The Golden Circle, Agatha Raisin), Nia Roberts (Hidden, Doctor Who), and Karen Paullada (The Worst Witch, Stella).
Written by BAFTA nominee Ed Whitmore (Manhunt) and directed by BAFTA nominee Marc Evans (Manhunt), Steeltown Murders is produced by Severn Screen and distributed by All3Media International.
