Hulu has set the US premiere date for Obituary, a new Irish crime comedy-drama series starring Siobhán Cullen. Check out the trailer.
Obituary follows Elvira Clancy (Siobhán Cullen, The Dry, Origin, The Long Call), a 24-year-old obituary writer who, while adoring her new job, also finds it a bit unfulfilling. Her feelings shift to indignation when her newspaper falls on hard times, her boss cuts her salary, and she finds herself being paid on a per-obituary basis.
When Elvira “accidentally” kills a nasty piece of work in the small town, she discovers she might have a previously untapped bloodlust! Now she relishes using ever more crafty methods to kill off the town’s unpleasant residents while making their deaths look like accidents. Stalk. Kill. Publish. Repeat.
Unfortunately, a wrench lands in the works: the paper hires a suspicious new crime correspondent, and Elvira really, really likes him…
Obituary premieres in the US on Tuesday, November 21, exclusively on Hulu.
The cast includes Michael Smiley (Bad Sisters, Luther), Ronan Raftery (The Rook, Moone Boy), Danielle Galligan (Kin, Shadow and Bone), and David Ganly (Moon Knight, The Crown).
Created and written by award-winning Irish scriptwriter Ray Lawlor (Le Ceangal), Obituary is produced by Nell Green (The Outfit, The Undeclared War) and lead directed by John Hayes (Dublin Murders, Bancroft), with Oonagh Kearney (Vardy vs Rooney) also directing.
