HBO has released the official trailer for its Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon. It looks mighty good. Check it out!
Based on George R.R. Martin’s novel Fire & Blood, House of the Dragon is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, and tells the story of House Targaryen.
Having been chosen by the lords of Westeros to succeed the Old King, Jaehaerys Targaryen, King Viserys Targaryen (Paddy Considine) must choose his successor to the Iron Throne. Who will it be? His brother, Prince Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith), or his daughter, Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy)?
“War is afoot.”
The ten-episode fantasy drama costars Olivia Cooke, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Fabien Frankel, Sonoya Mizuno, and Rhys Ifans, amongst others. (For images and details about their characters, read this article.)
House of the Dragon, an HBO Original series, premieres Sunday, August 21, on HBO. It will also be available to stream on HBO Max.
