Today Netflix released the official trailer for Munich – The Edge of War, the new historical thriller film that hits select cinemas this month and Netflix next month.
Based on the international best-selling novel Munich by Robert Harris, historical thriller Munich – The Edge of War tells the story of the grave emergency meeting which should have prevented the Second World War. It paints the picture of the seemingly unstoppable developments unfolding in Europe from the perspective of two young, idealistic diplomats, frantically trying to change the course of history.
Headlined by Oscar® and Emmy® Awards winner Jeremy Irons (Reversal of Fortune, Elizabeth I), the international cast includes George MacKay (1917, Pride), Jannis Niewöhner (Maximilian, Berlin Station), Robert Bathurst (Cold Feet, Downton Abbey), Jessica Brown Findley (Downton Abbey, Harlots), August Diehl (Close to the Enemy, Perfume), Sandra Hüller (I’m Your Man, Crime Scene Cleaner), Alex Jennings (Victoria, A Very English Scandal), Ulrich Matthes (Das Boot, The Notebook), and Liv Lisa Fries (Babylon Berlin, Counterpart).
Autumn 1938. Europe stands on the brink of war. Adolf Hitler (Matthes) is preparing to invade Czechoslovakia, and Neville Chamberlain’s (Irons) government desperately seeks a peaceful solution. With the pressure building, British civil servant Hugh Legat (MacKay) and German diplomat Paul von Hartmann (Niewöhner) travel to Munich for the emergency conference. As negotiations begin, the two old friends find themselves at the center of a web of political subterfuge and very real danger.
Munich – The Edge of War will play in select theaters in December and have its streaming debut on Netflix on Friday, January 21, 2022. (You can set a reminder for it now.)
