American Public Television is bringing these nine British and Irish TV titles to public TV stations and regional networks across the country next month.

Big Ben: Saving the World’s Most Famous Clock (UK)

This two-part documentary delves into the history of the iconic London landmark, as well as the four-year restoration project that has silenced its bells since 2017. It is presented by Anna Keay, director of the Landmark Trust, who goes behind the scenes of the project and speaks with the architects and clock-makers who have been given the monumental task of restoration work on Big Ben.

Coastal Railways with Julie Walters (UK)

In this four-part travel series, Dame Julie Walters (Harry Potter) travels the length of Britain on its famous coastal railways, including on several culturally influential trains such as the Hogwarts Express and the railway that inspired Thomas the Tank Engine. Along the way, she visits the Isle of Skye off the west coast of Scotland, discovers the secrets of the Balmoral Hotel, learns smuggling history in the village of Polperro in Cornwall, and takes a zip wire ride in Snowdonia in Wales.

In June 2017, what started as a small fire spread into a massive calamity in a London apartment block — killing 72 people and becoming the deadliest event in the city since World War II. This hour-long program documents the rescue efforts made, as well as the heartwarming acts of compassion that resonated long after the flames were put out.

Murder Maps: Seasons 3 & 4

This docudrama series chronicles the evolution of forensics in England through some its most shocking murder cases in the Victorian era and beyond. Host Nicholas Day (New Tricks) weaves together compelling storytelling with historical re-enactments to paint the full picture. Each season consists of four episodes, the topics of which are the Brighton Trunk Murders, Acid Bath Murderer, Tow Path Murders, and Ruth Ellis in Season 3, and the Beast of Birkenshaw, Mary Ann Cotton, Jigsaw Murders, and Shepherd’s Bush Murders in Season 4.
